When was the last time you had a great real estate day? You know, the day that actually “ends,” and you can go home, go to a movie, or just take a nap. Never? If your day drags well into the evening and you are up at midnight jotting down a “to do list” then you are probably a procrastinator.
We all do it. There’s just a few more things to do before you can call it a day, but, you put it off. Maybe you don’t want to answer some pesky emails, or call a seller or a buyer with some unpleasant news, or just clean up your computer desktop. Let’s face it, at some point in your day your brain will shut off and you will want to turn to more pleasurable activities. That is normal, of course, but because this career doesn’t end at 5pm like most businesses, it’s easy to put off until tomorrow and wake up in a cold sweat worried that you’re behind for the next day before it has even started.
Go ahead and take a break, have a cup of tea, a snack, or just a quick walk. Then, set a timer on your phone. Pick the task that you want to “put off’ until tomorrow and dive into it, for 30 minutes. That’s right, just set a 30-minute timer to finish your tasks that are lingering, without any interruptions.
Try it. How did it go? Send me your successes with this method. How do I know you will be sending me your success stories? If you are a regular reader of this blog you know that I am a Realtor just like you. Every day we all struggle with the same challenges. The 30-minute alarm method works. Try it and have a great real estate day!
